Instructions for dog bed to fit the Kyra beds.

I have designed the bed, drawn the diagrams, and written the instructions. I give you permission to print out
the entire page to make your own PVC Dog Bed. I do not give permission for you to take credit for my design
or to place on your website without my written permission.  Carol C. Sloan

[All pipe and connectors are Schedule 40 - 1.5" diameter. Link to suppliers
of "furniture grade" pvc fittings. More styles of fittings available than at
your local hardware store.  http://www.pvcplans.com/pvc-suppliers.htm]

You will need 2 - 10' sections of pipe for bed shown, 4 elbows, 4 T's, and 4 end caps.
You will also need pvc primer and pvc glue and about 50 - 1" wood screws.
For the topper you will need a piece of heavy material; or a sheet of
1/2 " plywood for light dogs, 3/4" plywood for heavier dogs.

[using plywood, glue and screws]
[the glue is unforgiving so work carefully]

For the Giant Kyra Bed 54" X 48":
Cut two pieces of pipe 50" long and two pieces of pipe 44 long".
Cut four equal pieces anywhere from 5" to 8" for legs, and four pieces 3" for joining
the T's to the elbows.

For the Little Giant Kyra Bed 54" X 36":
Cut two pieces of pipe 50" long and two pieces of pipe 32" long.
Cut four equal pieces anywhere from 5" to 8" for legs, and four pieces 3" for joining
the T's to the elbows.

Alternatively you will need one more 10' section of pipe and four more elbows but no
end caps if you want to build a stronger base....... details in photo.

Starting at the bottom primer (on both pieces of all connections before gluing)
and glue the endcaps to the legs. Work quickly and firmly as the glue sets almost instantly!!
Then glue the T's to the LONG pieces being sure to attach the T's as illustrated in the photo.
Do all four legs and both rails (T's and long pipe) before moving on.

Glue the four 3" pieces to one side of the four elbows.

Now being absolutely sure to positon both elbows in the same positon, glue the elbows
to the short pieces of pipe. It helps to work on a large flat surface, gluing one elbow on
and lying the piece on the floor to help position and glue the other side.

Now glue the legs to the rails (long pieces) and then glue the (elbow/short pipe/3") piece
combination to the the (rail/leg/endcap) combination.

Cut a piece of plywood to fit to the outside edges of the length and width. Measure to be sure of your cut.
Use at least 8 screws to attach to the rails. For strenth, I recommend using one screw in each
joint that you glued.
When done....... place your Kyra bed onto your pvc bed, and place dog on top :-)

[using minimal glue, screws, and cloth topper]

Glue endcaps to legs, glue legs to Bottom of T's as illustrated in photo. Glue 3" pieces
to bottom of elbows. WITHOUT gluing put rest of bed together as illustrated in photo.
Measure from rail to rail and add 12", measure from short pipe to short pipe adding18".
Using the photo illustration turn down corners (curved area in photo) and stitch.
Fold over all ends as illustrated and make a good heavy seam as shown. These will form
the pockets that the short and long pieces fit into.
Loosen one side of each pipe and slide the topper on as shown. Use two screws in each
unglued connection for strength and one screw in each glued connection.
May be used as is or with a Kyra Bed on top.
